Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) is unveiling a new line up of virtual services appliances this week called the Nexus 1100 series, which is the next generation of Nexus 1010 appliances.
These virtual appliances play a vital role for management of virtual security in the data center. The significant role of virtual service appliances for offloading application servers and for giving authorities to networking team to get access of network and security policies is not negligible.
If we look on the security front, Cisco (CSCO) made some data center security announcements this week, including news on the new IPS 4500 series, ASA 9.0 software, and the ASA 1000V Cloud Firewall, which they had started shipping in August.
Cisco is working on a cloud firewall for multi-tenant virtual desktop environments which includes both VSG and the ASA 1000V firewall. In virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI), the importance of Nexus 1100 becomes significant.
Customers of tech firm Cisco are mostly deploying Nexus 1000V virtual switches as the foundation for their virtual networks. Now a days it becomes very critical that a networking team can control networking and service policies from one single hub without going into hypervisor management tools, CSCO is providing solutions to all these needs of data centers of the future.
The Nexus 1100 Series by Cisco will initially come in 2 form factors: Nexus 1110-X and Nexus 1110-S. The Nexus 1110-X is to be found for larger environments.
Cisco’s Next Generation Encryption
Cisco Systems is making its footprints in Next Generation Encryption (NGE) by early adoption of next decade of cryptographic security. Next Generation Encryption provides a complete algorithm suite, which includes digital signatures, authenticated encryption, key establishment and cryptographic hashing. All these components of NGE provide high levels of security aimed at setting the standard for the next 10 years of encryption.
The Next Generation Encryption is significant in meeting the needs of agencies and enterprises by utilizing modern and pre-tested cryptographic protocols and algorithms. The security vulnerabilities will become more noticeable in the coming days and are a great threat to enterprises as computing power exponentially increases over time. According to Moore’s Law, attackers have access to more powerful tools to crack the encryption keys where the Next Generation Encryption can provide the essential security to keep the attackers away by improving security through Cisco’s solution on NGE.
